I changed my Model 8's rectifier for a nice heavy duty one from an electronics supplier. They are rated at 25 amps continuous and as long as you bolt them to a decent bit of metal they will perform for years.

Alternatively change it all to 12 volt and get some proper lights. There are some decent suppliers of pattern bits that have halogen bulbs and LED tail lamps. That way you will get every last milliwatt of power out of the generator

Hi John T. Thanks for your continuing interest. Current flowing when all switches off was approx 150 milliamps. Have now changed rectifier to the encapsulated type with 4 connections. signs are good in that the battery is still up after 2 days. Have not yet got friend to bring his meter round to finally check.
