G2 Knee grips

Post by mousey »

Hi, I have a '66 G2 csr with no knee grips. I tend to ride with my knees close to or on the sides of the tank & I know that over the years the paint will suffer. I can get grips for G3, G5, & most heavyweights but I know they would not be right due to the size of the tank. Does anyone know where I might locate a pair,I have tried 'spares' & just about everywhere else including ebay?
Many thanks. Mousey.

The 1966 solution for this was stik-a-sole shoe rubbers, look OK from a distance.

Spot on, the Philips stik-a sole worked a treat, and a Dubbin tin lid fitted the mag, if the end cover was lost, black hose pipe fitted the kick start lever in place of the rubber, and I have even seen a cork stopper for the oil tank filler cap.

Originality was not the order of the day when we used the bikes every day.
