Hi, this is my first posting and was hoping that someone could help with the dilema i'm having with my 1964 Matchless G2 CSR. I'm struggling to find any information about the petrol taps. They are Ewarts. What i'd like to know is the thread size for this bike so i can look at replacing them as i have changed the cork but still have a problem with them leaking. I have looked through the forums on this site and other forums on the internet but have had no joy.

masses on here about petrol TAPSs, not petcocks whatever that is.
they will be 1/8 or 1/4 bsp thread
welcome by the way
but please use English as your first language, no mufflers headers carbies dizzies compys fenders bobbers or other imported colloquialisms.
It confuddles the old geezers here.
and there is far too much old cock all over

Actually I have just turned the calender to the March page which features the lovely Gracie again.

looking wistfully upon such a sight and realising that a skint OAP pot bellied asthmatic old misery has absolutely no chance at all with such a vision is enough to make anyone irritable......

If you haven't already done so, go to 'Forums' at top of this page. Choose 'Search Forums, enter 'Petrol tap' and you'll have an evening's entertainment incl this as an example:
http://www.ajs-matchless.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7845&FORUM_ID=26&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=Brass+Fuel+Tap+Adaptors+%3F&Forum_Title=Help
BTW - When tanks have been left empty for a time (i.e. over winter) the corks dry out. Unless the corks have been soaked for a while even new ones can leak. If there's fuel in the tank they benefit from being turned on for a couple of hours a week (like Merlin in his prime, p'raps?

Hmm. I use the words fender, muffler, truck, (the kind that rumbles down the road, & other cute expressions, but Ken knows I am a nearly 77yr old, half blind, half deaf, half witted Colonial so he tolerates me if I behave myself, (sort of). But I can still kick start my Typhoon & balky BitSA 441.
I find that boiling corks expands them faster. Also read hear that the plastic used for sealing wine bottles now can be cut for a substitute but I drink wine only from screw cap bottles, California wine, too.
Cheers, Don.
