just managed to get hold of a nos wipac alternator stator, complete with grinning man on the box. written on the box in felt tip pen is 'matchless g2'. it fits perfectly on the chaincase studs - BUT - as most stators i've seen have 3 wires coming from them i was a bit disconcerted when i noticed that this one has 5 wires coming out. where on earth [pardon the pun] do all these go? i'll check the colours when i go up the shed, but i may be gone some time
cheers, bb.

Sound like one for an Energy Transer, (ET), ignition which uses a different wireing, coil, rotor & engine sprocket and is batteryless. PITA! get the proper stator for your type of electrics. Cheers, Don.

i really must start looking properly before i buy stuff for the ajay. not only has it got 5 wires coming off it - red, white, purple, brown and translucent - it's only got 4 coils instead of 6. weird! back on ebay methinks.
cheers, bb.
