Correct Battery?

Post by 3canaries »

Hello there,

First post! My Father owns a Model 14 AJS. It's been off the road for about 10 years (he's now 65 so it looking to get it back on the road for one last summer before selling it.

He's looking for the correct battery to use, the last one he got from a local bike shop was just to fit the space, and he felt it wasn't man enough for the job.

So if any of you could kindly help me, or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. So he's after either an original one or the Modern equivilant - whatever you guys are using on your own bike.

Many thanks

Scott

you need a 6 volt 12 amp/hour battery.

i usually get mine from auto jumbles - last time i bought one i think it was about £13-£15.

Some options for you here maybe Steve:

Just double check the voltage first - 6v is standard but it could maybe have been converted to 12v?

Just like I did in 2003 when Glyn wanted to go for a 'once in a lifetime' trip to Sweden for the BSA Club International Rally. Well, it was only once so I funded it for him. Several BSA Internationals later, this year,he's going back to Sweden. He can blooming well pay for it himself this time.

What was more impressive was that he had his bike stolen 6 days before he was due to sail so I bought him another. I don't even like BSAs.
