new lightweight seat fixings
I've just recieved my new seat from Jampot Spares, the front fixing bracket is self explanatory where it fits, there are two bolts in the seat base rear, I take it that is where I must fabricate a couple of brackets to fix it to the frame?

On mine the are captive nuts fitted to the seat base with studs threaded into them. These studs drop through holes in the frame and nuts hold them in place. I don't recall any additional bracketry, although my poor old memory could be playing tricks* because it has been all of 24 hours since I last took the seat off.
*genuinely - my recall is dreadful these days.

Janet is right.......there are two fixings on the frame which secure the seat.

There should be two lugs sticking outwards at right angles to the frame and horizontal to the ground -one each side - on the frame near but behind the position of the top mount for the shock absorbers These line up with the two holes in the seat that should as stated above have captive nuts in. The saddle is bolted up from below through the lugs into the two captive nuts to allow for removal. Ian

I understand now how it goes, my problem is when I bought the bike it was a bit of a basket case and it had been used as a field bike and someone had butchered it at some point turning the two brackets 90 degrees to fit the mudguard aswell as a few other modifications which I have sorted so just one more to do, thanks for help everyone.

Ian.
I have found the photos I was looking for, these should help you a bit more. They are scans of photos as this was in the pre digital era.
Let me know if you need anything else
Best wishes
