Is the the ignition switch located on the left or the right side of the headlight on the Lightweights?

Mine is on the left - 61 G5. The prev owner rewired the bike using a loom produced by Colin Farrington. There is no wiring diagram but the instructions do state that the harness is fitted with sockets which plug straight into the existing wipac switches.

Colin Farrington should know I would go along with his. These bikes are old and over the years have been played with so anything could have been changed around. But there again, does it really matter?

50 - 50 so far. That surprises me I thought this would be easy for most of you. Now it seems like a good question for the Xmas Quiz - if I could find out the answer first, that is.
I've looked at old Road Tests, Brochures, etc. but so far have found no photos of an original headlight & switches. From the answers so far it doesn't seem that restored bikes would be a reliable guide either.
Does it matter? Well, of course, the world doesn't turn on it but since this is a restoration the point is to restore the bike to how it was as far as possible.
The factory will have had some logic the location of switches.

The wiring diagram in the owners manual shows:-
Left - Ignition
Right - Lighting
Left - Ignition
Right - Lighting

Re: Ignition Switch Location
I have 3 light weights 58 to 66 all have ignition switch on the left. Instruction and workshop manuals all show that is correct. The instruction book wiring diagram show ign. on the left. In the workshop manual, the wiring diagram shows the headlamp, with ign. on the left and marked as such.
Stu must had nipped in and confirmed that while I was checking to see if all my lightweights were right or wrong.
