As folks have already stated its whats missing and what the part looks like that is a challenge. There are major differances between the 250 & 350 but later 250 CSR's have some compatable parts.

Other sources are Norton lightweights like the navigator as certain components were shared - for instance new kick start levers can be got from NOC. (££).

Clutches can be confusing but you can fit a late 250CSR duplex clutch to a G5.

Also review the G5 & G2 threads there is loads of info from the likes of cbranni, ozmadman, myself rangy65, and the recent guys like clanger as well as the ever present spriddler, Rob Harknett & Janet to name a few.

I have three G5's. one 1959 restored and running and is my enduring ride done about 2K on it no real problems. I also have a part restored 1960 model which i have all the parts for. And 70% of a 61 model which i intend to turn into a scrambler look alike.

Hi Steve,
I have been having a lot of problems posting on the forum i think it is ok now for me a two finger prodder it takes ages i must have typed four emails and none have gone through, what i was trying to inquire about was subframe on the g5 i am going to try and get the motor in the frame i presume the subframe has to be assembled first with all shafts and spacers before the motor is fitted as there is so much missing i have no idea. I have the main stand ,the spring and the spacer that goes through the spring i wonder could you shed some light on what is missing and how it goes together Clanger 9 posted some archive info but there is no detail and i am still confused. The Norton Owners Club did have some kickstarts made for their Lightweights but they sold out. When I asked at the NOC stand at the April Stafford Show last Spring, I was told that they hope to have some more made but are, basically, "waiting on 'the man who makes everything' to find time to do it - so maybe in a year's time but who knows!" Clearly there's a market for these kickstarts.

If you do find a detailed assembly drawing of the frame, I'd be very interested. My 250 has most of the centre stand/under frame bits & bobs removed, so thankfully I haven't needed to puzzle out how it all fits together. However, I do have a number of bits left over (including two different looking rear under-frame brackets) that someone must be able to find a use for...

Ok now then the 250 and 350 frames are different. the way that the channel fits to the frame requires the correct part and not just the square bar. The brake arm works on the shaft.

I would suggest before anything else you check out the frame number with the dating officer and make sure its a G5. Frame dimensions are different!!

I will take some low res photos and upload them as my pictures have too many megawotsits
