sprocket sizes
hi all,
looking for advice on changing the sprockets on my model 8.
i currently have ths std 18t gearbox and a 56t rear (the std size is 55t, but i couldn't find one when reuilding).
it seems really low geared, has anyone tried either the 19t 0r 20t or any other advice?

I cant really understand buying an old bike then wanting more out of the poor old thing, like more speed changing this and changing that. If you want something smoother, faster, more comfortable, better lights, etc etc. Maybe you brought the wrong bike.

i appreciate that it is an old bike, it's not my only one i have and i happily accept it's limitations, its part of the charm.
i was just asking if anyone had tried changing the sprockets, according to my spares list these were available when the bike was new.

Gone are the days when all you had to do to make your bike go faster is, put a green plug lead on it and paint it Red.

Anyone else wanna join the 2old2care motor cycle club.
So the question now is Why were different sprocket sizes offered. Go back in time. Maybe to suit the various parts of England, from flatlands to the mountains, for sidecar use, to convert for various motor cycle sports. maybe its even documented somewhere, like 21 tooth sprockets are available for blah blah
