Jam a screwdriver bit down to stop the nut turning. If there is enough room for the nut to turn there must be enough room to jam it.

Hi
Unless the nut is seized to the bolt, one or two straight cut screw drivers pushed down between the flats of the nut and the lifting handle tube will hold the nut and allow you to unscrew the bolt.
A bodge is not a bodge when it's needed to rectify a previous bodge Clive
