I recently acquired a petrol tank from a seller on eBay, stated to be from a 1954 Model 16. It's a bit grubby and has a lot of debris inside but it seem sounds enough. One thing that intrigues me is that it seems to have 3 tapped outlets on the underside. Two of them have petcocks fitted, the third, on the left hand side has a blanking screw. It that usual? My '55 M18 doesn't have one.
Second question... What style of tank badge would have been fitted to a 1954 G3/LS?
Thanks in advance
John

Re: G3/LS Petrol tank questions
I would guess that is the original tap (petcock?) fitting in which the thread stripped so some screw was threaded in. Its in line with the other tap which is normal. Then a new tap was fitted, although I will admit this makes no sense as it too looks to have a welded in mount. Why would you do that unless there was a problem with clearance on a pancake air filter?

Sorry... yes, petrol tap.clive wrote:I would guess that is the original tap (petcock?) fitting
I spend far too much time on Triumph forums inhabited by Americans and I've picked up some of their terminology. It won't happen again.
