I stand to be corrected but I'd say it's not correct for a single but it could be used. My thinking is that the 2 pipes bosses coming out of the rear of the tank, one is for the over flow pipe (bottom one) and the other for the engine breather from the rear of the crankcase of an early up to 1951 twin. This pipe boss could be blocked of using the lower one for the overflow

Thanks for answer, so I'm going to find better, proper oil tank for my G3LS.
Caps for petrol and oil tanks are identical? I'm trying to find caps in ebay:
1. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/01-3325-2-1- ... 3093529382
2. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AJS-MATCHLES ... 2726310325
3. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ajs-Petrol-T ... 2547376869

They look different, which one is for oil/for gas? Which would You recommend?

hi
None of the 3 filler caps are correct for your bike.
They are still made new today to the same pattern so you wont have a problem getting one. There are oil tanks that come up regularly on ebay, so you dont need to panic buy one.

If you refer to the Spares List using the link I have previously given to you, you will see that (if you have the correct tank) the cap for 1950 to 1966 models is Pt. No. 013325.

Then if you go to the Club spares website here:

http://www.amoc-parts.com/store/comersu ... oducts.asp

and enter 013325 in the 'Quick Search' box and click 'Search' you will find the cap. If you then click on the picture, the text or 'View' you will see a larger picture:

If you do the same but use Part No. 013324 you will find the oil tank cap (assuming your oil tank is correct for 1950 to 1955)

'O'BA and 6mm x 1 are not the same thread form. They might screw together, but far from intended. For the overal cost of your rebuild buy a proper tap and do the job properly. try tracy tools in Dartmouth. I understand your distance problem

Hi, I may have missed the boat here, but re oil tanks. 1954 on (part no 021052) had the oil filter housing and cap to the left of the main oil filler cap when seen side on. For 1953 (part no 018185) and earlier the filter cap is behind the main oil filler cap looking side on. In the one shown a few posts ago I could not see where the filter cap was. I have a spare '53 oil tank if you would like to PM me to discuss terms. Cheers, Andy

Agreed Andy. This is the original oil tank on my bike, shipped from the factory May 1954.

Thank You for usefull tips.
I forget that BA thread have different angle 47,5deg vs 60deg in metric. I've found via ebay used tap and die 0BA for 5Ł, I'll order it to my friend from polish izh-motorcycles club, he is now in England so distance isn't a problem.
I've also found seller in Germany who have all main missing for me: oil tank (with oil filter cap located behing main cap), jampots (with screwed-on lower collar) and left toolbox. Meanwhile I'm preaparing long list with minor missings, I've found all what I want in amcspares website. I'll expect nice Christmas present:)
