gearbox
hi all 1955 g3 burman gearbox dose it have oil seals fitted into the outer case round the kickstart shaft and gear shaft there are part numbers in parts lists but no photos as to were they fit if so are they lip seals (ie) rotary shaft type.

Yes there are seals. Here's a pic of them, it's an Ariel box but similar, also an exploded view.

thanks for that dave so looking at those photos you can change them without taking the cover of the gear box

Just changed those on my G3 AMC box and did have to remove the cover.

You can prise out the kickstarter oil seal and the indicator seal from the outside but for the foot change seal you will have to remove the outer cover. To do this there is no need to remove the kickstarter or the foot lever but you will have to remove the indicator disc and spring below it. Then you'll need to remove the foot change lever to access the seal on the change spindle.
