I'm joining in on this. May as well have all the daft questions together. I had the steering damper and it was useful when I fitted the sidecar.
Going through my tin of new used parts, I found it again, I'd had it plated (that soft stuff, not chrome, memory fails) and there's two nice new friction plates. The know is damaged from when I put the Matchless over the sidecar and it landed upside down (I was only 22 years old).
I have a new knob (steady there) but can't get the old one off! Any suggestions apart from cut it off. It's not a ruin, just a bit scratched / chipped.
I also now know what the strange shaped washer in the tin is for (010808).
