1956 G3LS Steering damper fitting
Hi,
I am fitting a steering damper to my recently acquired '56 G3LS. I have bought a complete assembly (022060) and will be getting a fork lock nut (with hole) from the club (021811) to replace the domed one.
There is a hole on the underside of the frame near the fork stem that needs either a pin or bolt for the damper anchor plate. Does anyone know the part number for this pin/bolt or the size? I can't locate it in my part book.
I bet someone on here knows.
thanks
Nick

Surely its all pictured in the parts list and parts listed.
All the washers with 000 ??? number are old prewar parts still in use, so probably stocked by the club. Most other parts also prewar, so quite common. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I have the complete damper assembly and it is shown in the parts list but the two screws that ‘Pharisee' has sent info (and image) on that hold the anchor plates in place, don't seem to be listed. Now I have the information I need.
Thanks for your response

They are listed but separately, as they do a separate job. No size given, but I repeat myself again here. Most fittings have been used for years, old parts lists gave sizes, later ones did not. Look here. Std. nuts, bolts, washers etc are seldom shown pictured, but are listed.NickG58 wrote:Hi Rob,Rob Harknett wrote:Or just search AJS Matchless steering damper for many results like this complete assembly.

Now you will see size 7/16" X 1/4 x 26 tpi, for 014577. Also look there if you have a pre 52 bike to find a pt. no's new part number, as you need a new pt no to find the part in club spares etc. New parts numbers have been used since 1952, By AMC and all up to date.

Hi Rob, Thanks for the info. Any idea where I can get these bolts? They aren't available in club spares and I have been searching online but can't seem to locate any that size.Rob Harknett wrote:They are listed but separately, as they do a separate job.
