Sorry if I confused you, Rob. I have two AMC machines. A 1955 AJS M18S and the 1953/4 Matchless G3/LS which I referred to in this thread. :)

Read the post again Rob, John was referring to his G/box which is a 54. The original poster had the 56 gearbox.
I just checked Rob, yes different people. The topic stated as 1956 AJS, then along came a 1954 Matchless. Just reading the postings I thought the original poster had found the gear box number he was looking for. Then Clive was quoted as posting a topic, which I had posted. I give up, getting more like Quiz.
