Removing the clutch plates to replace gearbox seal and notice burring and wear on the clutch tangs.
Any ideas what would cause this please.

Hi Mike

Yes they're the shock absorber rubbers, they definitely need to be replaced in my opinion.

I'd be a little concerned with regard to the plate ear deformation if they have not been in for long - maybe a call to club spares.

Hi Mike

You may get some food for thought from this thread, with regard to the damaged rubbers and your choice of oil

Hi Mike

You don't need to remove them to replace the rubbers, do you have another reason for wanting to?

They're locked with centre pops, so if you do need to remove them tighten two nuts on the other end of the stud to act as locknuts and put a spanner on the inboard one to restrain the stud. I'd leave them in situ if possible.

Hi Mike

Make yourself a pick out of a 3mm ish screwdriver by grinding a point onto the end and use that to get the rubbers out.

I fitted new rubbers by hand with red rubber grease to lube them but you may need to make a tool to compress them if you're unlucky.

This is a learning curve for me,
Rubbers removed now, Thankyou yet again Mick.
Waiting for new rubbers and hopefully when fitted another tick in the box of Matchless knowledge 😱😱
Not sure if it could prove dangerous though 🤪🤪
