G3 Engine plates

Post by Highlanderbiker »

I am building up a 350 heavyweight out of all sorts of bits that have been kicking about in my workshop for the last half a century ( frightening is'nt it ?) . The basis is an early 50s Matchless frame , the one with the alloy casting that carries the swinging arm.
I thought I had engine plates but when I try and fit them they are know where near what I need and assume the ones I have are from a rigid frame.

What I am asking is , does any member have a set of suitable plates that they could draw round to give me a pattern so I can cut some new ones out of a sheet of quarter inch Dural I have leaning against the wall ? Only thirty years with this one !!

I hope it does not upset too many but I am very happy to have a non original play thing that can be used in all weathers up here in the Highlands hence the alloy plates rather than steel .
Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Or you could buy these on ebay:

Stainless steel so won't rust.

I love it! In these dark times you've got to have a sense of humour and it breaks up the day. :D :D
