If you fit a 3 and it's too rich it's easy to convert to 3.5 by some careful filing or rubbing on wet/dry paper by steepening the cut away by 1/32". Use the 3 and see how it performs, if you carb is knackered and the new slide slops around in the bore it'll act like a 3.5 anyway.
