In 1950 both 16M and 16MS were available , the difference being the MS is sprung frame with candlestick damper
In 1951 the jampot suspension was introduced

1950 model 16 M was rigid, 16 M/S had s/a candle sticks. That was 70 years ago. Today bikes built from bits will be found with 16 M engine in a s/a frame or 16 M/S in a rigid frame. Year and model would be based on the frame number. Dating officer should be able to confirm what engine year / model would match your frame.
