Few Niggles before I buy a 57 G3

Looking at getting 57 G3, the guy says there’s play in the front wheel bearing, how easy are these to change and are there 2 needed?

There is a slight leak in the black tin primary case, how easy to sort?

Speedo and maybe mile metre playing up

He’s wanting £3100, is this about right? The overall condition looks good for the year.

Sounds about right £3100 but don't expect it to end there, mine looked good for the year similar price, £600 later! now it looks good.

Wheel bearings are adjustable so may just need the play taking up. If not, a new wheel spindle and bearings assembly will set you back around £200, not too difficult to replace.

Tin case leaking - sortable, there are 'improved' seals available for after any defects with the cases have been sorted - easy fix but may require a bit of patience to get it oil tight

Plenty of places will repair / restore Smiths Chronometric speedos, give a few a call for estimates

A top notch 57 matching numbers G3 may just make £4000 - does this one have matching numbers / dating certificate?
