jampot shock overhaul
I've recently acquired a 1957 16ms and the rear suspension apeears to have no damping and bottoms out on hard bumps. i don't mind stripping them down and overhauling them but i would like to have the new seals and washers to hand so i can do the job . is there a overhaul seal kit available ??? or do i have to strip down and then order parts?? thanks

Hi Paolo, yes all the parts are available for Jampots but you should have Girlings on a '57 model. These are available new. To help you identify the units: Jampots are very fat and have an alloy clevis at top and bottom which fit on thick flat extensions on the frame. Girlings are much slimmer and only have the alloy clevis on the bottom.

Dave's right, It's not '57 or it's different bits and pieces, Girlings from and including 1957.

Whilst the seals etc are available the inner tubes are not, that's why I've stopped overhauling them for the time being.

Could be a late '56 model that was sold and registered in '57. I once had a '55 model 20 which was registered as '56. It was original and I had the old green logbook.

I'm sure a 57 doesn't have Jampots. Mines a 57 with an AMC box and Girlings
