I had a similar problem with my G80 after the seller informed me that he had converted the lights to 12V. Upon inspection found out that the regulator was still 6V trying to charge a 12V battery. Not sure if this helps

Easy enough to change with the DVR2. 12v operation isn't really recommended if you're running the short E3N dynamo. The output is barely adequate for 6v operation.
