Thanks for the info,
The top yoke has got a milled slot, it ties up now, i wondered how the speedo brackets were mounted to this particular machine.

I find that my G3 kicks back viciously if I give it more than a tiny throttle opening.
If it won't start using the conventional technique then I use the same method as Pharisee described earlier, it always works for me.

if you start a machine on it's stand when you are astride it on the footrests you will bend the stand, eventually to the extent it will be well over centre and most difficult to put on and take off adding to your misery, if you must use the centre stand to start then stand alongside it,
my short stroke c/s motor I start in a similar fashion to the Goldstar and Velo using the velo technique which is to flood carb, decompress and prime with 4 strokes of the kickstart, up to TDC, ease over retard a tad and swing, if it kicks me then retard a tad more, works for me, kind regards
