Fibreglass tank & Unleaded Fuel

Post by spookefoote1956 »

Hello again. This is like the swan that can break your arm. People say it can happen but has anyone met anyone that it's happened too. The last thing I want to do is go through the process of preparing and painting my tank to then have it melt before my very eyes.

Is this really likely to happen? Should I....
a) Take the risk and get on with it
b) Fill it with some specialist goo that costs loads and make a specialist goo vendor very happy
c) Get a metal tank from lordy knows who tank suppliers.

If I need to get another tank where can I get one that is trials shaped or two or four mounting point CS variety.

Yours possibly meltingly, with a broken arm from a swan,

Chris

My fibreglass tank went soft with unleaded. I had it lined with Caswell. It has been fine since, though I don't know how long it will last.

Many thanks for your help. I have just ordered a steel tank from a firm in India via ebay. I will prepare my fibreglass one with primer and flog it to the highest bidder.
