1952 Model 18 seat

Post by Krishna »

Well, I finally got the one I wanted, a Model 18 1952 vintage, and very lovely she is. I would like to put a single seat back on her, someone in the past fitted a 'normal' double. I found these........

...........and I was wondering if anyone has fitted one and indeed in the considered opinion of this august company they are any good. Also what extras I need to find for anchoring springs and bolting the front to the frame.
Any other ideas, comments and general nuggets of advice will be welcome.
Many thanks in advance from deepest Burgundy. Krishna Lester.

Hi Krishna

Is it a Rigid rear end or a jampot suspension . The frame fitting is different

Of course, how stupid of me not to specify. It's a jampot swinging arm. Many thanks

There are no folding kickstarts available for the B52 gearbox. Second hand trials types occasionally come up for sale.
You will be able to fit the single seat on your model 18 (actually it's a Model 18S if it's swinging arm).
You will find details of the fittings in the parts list here:

Many thanks Dave. My guess is that the bracket at the front of the seat is difficult to come by. Does anyone have a photo and the dimensions and I'll run one up !

Hi Hari. ;) From the parts list (page 47) to which Dave has already referred you it shows the fixing brackets which appear to be an integral part of the seat frame.

If you look at the Frame pages, Steven at AMC Classic Spares lists:

Saddle front mounting brackets, pre-1949 (pair)

Saddle front mounting brackets (pair) (as illustrated in 1950-on spares lists - actually fitted 1949-on)
