Carb for 56 G80S
Just bought a 1956 G80which needs a little fettling to get it back on the road . Bought as a non runner I find it has a 376 monobloc fitted not a 389 as the specification suggests. If jetted correctly will it run with the smaller carb ?

Not too well. Carbs are quite critical. You will be able to pick up an old carb easily at an autojumble very cheaply. I paid £5 for a 376. ironically it was to replace a 389 that had been incorrectly fitted to a model 16. a couple of years ago we could have done a swap! I have now cannibalised the 389 for my 31csr. Putting the correct carb on made a surprising difference to starting and running.
