Tick Over

Post by spookefoote1956 »

What is the school of thought on this? Should the tick over be just off stalling when warm. Whilst on this track my bike started spitting / misfiring whilst on the way back from the Lytham show today. I noticed that there appears to be quite a lot of soot in the carb. Could it be due to running a little rich perhaps?

Cheers, Chris

Hi

I like to set my tick over as slow as possible - love the gentle thump of a single and it impresses the onlookers

Don't know the history of your bike but spitting back could be the inlet valve not fully closing when warm - check the tappet adjustment - or possibly a sticky auto advance on the ignition. Don't think mixture is going to be your culprit.
