spark plugs

Post by Steve Harding »

I have a 1952 18s,
Ive used the search function and it seems the common replacement for a KLG FE80 are: NGK B7ES or Champion N4?
A message to the Green spark plug company came back with the following recommendation: NGK B8ES or Champion NC3C.
Is anyone using these, or recommendations?

Thanks

Steve

I'd go for Champion N5C.

I've always used the Champion N5 - now N5C.

I generally use NGK 6's and 7's long and short reach for singles and twins, probably erring more to the 6, I think an 8 will be too hard.

I seem to remember that when I had a couple of G9s back in the '60s, the recommended plug was a KLG FE80 but I'm pretty sure I ran mine on KLG FE220. For the life of me, I can't remember why!! It was 50 odd years ago. :)

I put one of these in my bike many years (30?) ago and it still gives good service. I took it out for these pictures last week and checked the centre electrode's resistance - 0.4Ohms, so still good. Its an NGK BP7EVX with a platinum electrode, but sadly is no longer available in the zero resistance format as far as I can see.

You are a lucky man, these are the only plugs I have had fail. One in my 650 outfit and the other in a Yamaha Virago (which wasn't mine). Back to Champion now and had none pack up.
