Thanks all for your help.
Just have to wait a while before I can sneak the barrell into the kichen and into the oven for a bake
All the best, Aaron[/quote]
I would suggest you take it to Peter he cooks barrels and chips twice a week in the workshop/Kitchen

Re: Paper Gaskets
I've been known to put (pre-cleaned) engine parts in the dishwasher.
Am careful to run it again afterwards empty with a dishwasher tab in to clean out.
SShhhh.

Re: Paper Gaskets
you should not put aluminium in a dishwasher , it has a tendency to turn it dull grey /black

Re: Paper Gaskets
Hi
I boiled up three concentric carb bodies in a large pan of water with a dishwasher tablet dissolved in it - white crystals started to form on the surface of the metal almost immediately, stopped the process and rinsed thoroughly in cold water. Lesson learned, 'monkey metal' and dishwasher solution may not be a good mix
Regards Mick

Re: Paper Gaskets
Well, I have done this with cylinder head, rocker box and gearbox cases. I thought they were supposed to be a dull grey. Perhaps I'm inadequately clued into cosmetics (as anyone who's seen my G80S would know).
More recently though they've been soda blasted.
