Converting to 12V

Converting to 12V

Hi
Did have a quick look to see any posts on the topic, maybe I am not looking in the right place?
Has anyone converted their G80 to 12v?
My machine is a Matchless G80 circa 1959 with 6volt system.
Would converting to 12v simplify things and make it more easier?
I have LED rear light bulb from Clueless matchless dot com - excellent bloke if he is still around :-)

PS sorry for being away from the forum quite awhile.
PPS The original switch is starting to get a bit slack too in operation PRS8 type - ignition key in centre, light switch knob on the outside.

Converting to 12 volts definately simplifies it. The 12 volt system is simple and has a lot less wires in it. You will need a 12 volt reg/rec, battery, horn and bulbs. You can do your own wiring loom or go to Catmando and explain what you're doing. He can supply the exact loom for you and advise on reg/recs etc. If your switch is knackered and you're not too bothered about looking original you could fit a better lighting swith in its place and fit a key ignition switch somewhere else e.g. on the plate beween oiltank and toolbox. You'll also find info and diagrams on Paul Goff's website and AO Services too. They also do DIY looms and are very helpful.

Clive it is fitted with a 12v alternator by wassell.

If you go to services in the adverts, he advertises Wiring harnesses etc, used to be Catmando, Colin Farrington.
