Hi David
Had a model 16 with the wrong carb. Whatever I did i couldn't get it to run right. Bought an old corect carb at Founders Day for £5 and from the two carbs managed to assemble the correct jets. the difference was AMAZING! I recommend looking in your local autojumbles. It doesn't matter how tatty it looks as long as it is all there and there is not too much slop on the slide.
Happy hunting. (or you could buy a new one from the spares scheme and Jim will set it up with correct jets etc for a little over £100)

The other important consideration is are you running with an airfilter? This will require a change in main jet size!

As Michael K says the correct carb is a 76AG, the slide size is 6/3, and the main jet 180, alternative main jets are (were) 170 or 190.
However if you are going to stick to the 376 David and have or want to fit an air filter, the main jet is reduced to 190. This information came from AMC spares books.
Best of luck . MikeM.
