Question about oil filler cap size. Article 013324.

Post by chrter »

Hi all!

I have a question about the size of the oil filler cap on my G9 1953. The size of the old one (which I lost going around a corner and never found again) is 2 1/2 inch. It is the same size as the petrol tank cap (013325) which also fit the oil tank. I ordered a new cap from AMOC Spares with article 013324 and was sent a smaller cap with about 2 inch diameter. They say that they have sent the correct article but I think that they by misstake have sent the wrong size cap.
Isn't the smaller cap for the larger tank from 1956 onwards?

So, to end the cap size discussion I want to ask you in the forum: What size should the oil filler cap be on a Matchless G9 1953.

I am of course not accusing anyone of anything here. Anyone can make a misstake.

Thanks!

BR

On my 1953 AJS Model 20 both caps are 2 1/2 inches.
