Thread size for oil tank cover screws

Post by MartinAmes »

I have a G11 1956 with the slab side oil tank. There are two chrome screws that hold the cover on.
The thread in the tank has been worn way at the front, but is still good further in.
I need to get some slightly longer screws so that I can tighten it up.
Does anybody know what thread they are?

They appear to be the same thread as the chrome knurled screws for the frame cover.

The other alternative is to re tap them a bigger size, or use helicoils, but it would be just easier to get some longer screws.

I think that must be 000348 bolt, 1 5/16 x 1/4 x 26TPI, BSC (or BSF?).

Oh no, via Rob's comment below I see that I mixed up oil tank and fuel tank.
