I have managed to squeeze everything in with the non scalloped footrest, so (hopefully) all is now good.
The scalloped footrests are an AMC thing, I have seen others since all this started, there are a pair on US eBay at nearly 200 quid inc P&P... but I don't know under what circumstances they were used.
I am pretty sure I have (finally) put this to bed now, can't say it hasn't been a real PITA, but there you go..... I am used to going to work every day, so it's been a diversion, to say the least!
