I've found these to be quite good from Hitchcocks. You need the 1/8 gas ones for AMC. Picture didn't download for some reason but check out their website under "Amal fittings"

I ordered the club ones listed in the previous reply, got them this morning. I reckon as long as I have them pointed the right way the on off issue won't be a problem, ie both are push forward for on or similar.
Tank wasn't ready though, still not been painted, getting a bit hacked off with the restorers, they have had the tank since May and it seems to tak a phone call when I have my next completion date to egg them onto each stage of the work. Thats the whole summer now gone and no bike!

I eventually had the tank cut open, rewelded and repaired, all the mounts replaced, resprayed and fuel sealed (twice by supposedly professional restorers as the first time it still leaked and had to be stripped and redone) and about £800 later got it back. Imagine my dismay last night after all the work I finally finished and fitting the tank back on for a test run to find the damn thing is leaking again from the exact same place.
I am loath to keep spending more and more money on a tank that no matter what I do leaks from the same place again and again. What are the indian replacements like for shape, size and quality. Normally I would prefer an original but no matter how much professional time and effort is spent on the tank and how much proper repair is done it just keeps leaking!

Don't know how good the AMC Indian tanks are. I eventually abandoned my Triumph Rigid tank after a lot of effort. Found it impossible to return, too many regulations, and it is now sitting in my office awaiting a genius thought of how it can become a decoration. Or not.
I have been told the BSA ones are good, so worth questioning anybody that has bought AMC.

i purchased a tank for my G15 when i thought it was beyond repair , tank was good except did not have tank badge fixings but i could have easily fitted inserts
shape was good , except where the badge bulge is on the later tanks , but this would have not be noticeable after filling and painting
it was a bare , unpainted tank

certainly worth considering if you cant get a good secondhand one

Surely you should be going back to them after spending all that money.

Yes Bruce, I agree with Dave : for a repair of this amount, the craftsman owes you a guarantee !

Without going into the whole story the tank was given to a local classic bike restorer to cut open, remove the additional bodged studs and restore back to original condition, weld up, paint and then seal the inside of the tank. the prices given was about £350 or thereabouts and it was supposed to take about 4-6 weeks. The tank was solid but just had a slight weep on the front nearside when put over.
The welding was apparently done by another company for the restorers and this took about two months. the restorers then took around another 3-4 months to blast the tank and pet coat it, eventually they said they could not paint it and sent it to yet another company to get it painted direct who took yet another 2-3 months to paint it and charged me about £300 more. They also said they had screwed up the prep and contaminated the blasted tank with silicone and were trying to charge me twice this but I told him to get lost on this.
When I eventually managed to get the tank back about 8 months and about £650 later it looked fine but still leaked from the front nearside of the tank. After putting a camera in it turned out the coating had not reached the Front nearside corner.
I then sent it south and paid yet another £200 to have the internal coating removed and replaced properly by a specialist and the tank was leak free for about 100miles then started leaking from the same spot. Having drained and shoved in the camera it looks like there is a pinhole in the coating at the leak point.
Having been passed through some many folk, most of them outwith my control, it is hard to pinpoint who make the cock-up.
The original screwup is too messed up to fix and I won't get anywhere with that, I had to hound them just to get the tank back and would not touch them with a bargepole ever again. I haven't named the other specialist as yet who did the recoating, I'll contact them and see what they may do to fix this during the week.
I am just at the point where around £800 has gone down the swanny so far and the tank, apart from the fixings, is the exact same tank I had to start with as the original paint was fine. Is there a company I could reliably send the tank to have it fixed poperly and permanently or am I better looking for another? Its not as if the tank has ever even been rusty or the metal thin, the tank is solid metal and was even before it was "fixed"
