I think you're right. I was going to do my John Cleese impression and give it A Jolly Good Thrashing - but I thought I'd check with you knowledgeable people first. On the bright side, it's good exercise, albeit only for 1 leg.

Well, I've had the carb off, checked the needle was in the right slot (it was), blew the main and pilot jets through with a compressor, although they looked OK, trigger the carb and fitted new plugs, although the old ones ha only done 1200 miles and looked fine, and now it starts when hot. Good to know, but I have no idea why. Carb/manifold air leak maybe?

Had the same problem with my csr, Had the mag overhauled for lots of money , still had occasions when it refused to start,eventually sent the mag back, the guy then found crack in the plastic pick up cap, he apologised and replaced them free of charge ,I probably never needed the mag overhauled in the first place.It was impossible to see the crack and the mag had to be warm to make it fail.
