I agree with Rob, and I can recommand the excellent AGM battery I bought 4 years ago from AMOC PARTS. But its lenght is 150 mm. I my case I made a new battery carrier bolted on the frame, between the frame vertical tube and the rear mudguard. Its holds the charge perfectly for months and months.

Motobatt MB9U - 12V 11ah - fits in the battery box of an M31 DL. Plenty of amps in reserve and to soak up the output from the alternator - and a 2 year warranty (for what it's worth on a battery) Two sets of terminals too so can be fitted to suit. The spare pair is also handy for wiring any accessories to such as charging socket or GPS etc.

The Motobatt MB9U is an extremely snug fit in the ‘63 on “pear shaped” tool box as it's pretty much the exact size of the aperture within the box. The MB5U 7ah battery will fit with ease and has proved a much better option than traditional lead/acid batteries. I have them on mag/alt and coil/alt bikes with no problems.
