Youtube tutorials on repair and maintenance
As someone who really wants to learn as much as possible about their bike, I was wondering if anyone has any videos on repair and maintenance of any aspect of their bike. From engine, electrics, brakes, gearbox, anything at all to upload to youtube?
The reason I ask is that whilst reading manuals and documents are helpful. Im certainly more of a visual learner and understand better by seeing process in action.
Currently theres a few videos of model 31s CSRs and g12s being ridden around on Youtube but nothing in terms of repair and maintenance. Lots about G80s tho!
Whilst the lockdown goes on ive seen a few people on here detailing work theyve been doing both past and present and as a 'youngun' its sometimes hard for me to understand parts or sometimes whats been done.
Ive had lots of help from friends so far and enjoyed learning 'in the moment' but videos would certainly solidify my understanding

As a section we do theme nights ( or used to before covid) where we pick a subject that can be demonstrated during the evening ie AMC gearbox rebuild , Fork rebuilds etc..
perhaps next time we should video them
Its a way of passing on experience to the younger section members and giving them the confidence to tackle jobs themselves
since we did wheel building at least 3 others now build their own wheels

And here he is, Thrifty Peter (g80csp11) doing just that:g80csp11 wrote:As a section we do theme nights ( or used to before covid) where we pick a subject that can be demonstrated during the evening ie AMC gearbox rebuild , Fork rebuilds etc.. ,,,,,,,,,,,since we did wheel building at least 3 others now build their own wheels
In the (gloomy) photo below Ian and John haven't nodded off. The photos were taken with them looking up with just the wall lights on during a lull whilst we were trying to get the main overhead hall lights working!

Clive what I said was 'we should video the theme nights in future' unlike in the past where we only have a few photos
There are several U tube clips on wheel building , not Matchless/AJS but shows the general principle

Re: Youtube tutorials on repair and maintenance
Would it be useful to have an area in the Forum system where members could post links to appropriate Youtube videos?
We don't have the capacity to hold the videos on our system (any why would we if Youtube does it), but we could build up a library of useful links to save people searching for videos.
