So it's a hybrid and not a real Matchles sorry:
Just got this dated by the Matchless Group a 1967 G15 mark 2. It's one of
the last of the bunch 120001. Went to LA right after hitting
Berliners. It's a black one with the big tank and fully valanced
fenders.Got about 4000 miles on if the speedo is in real time.
Got to ask some questions hoping for some help.
First off the speedo is mounted on the left of course the drive is on
the rear wheel right side and a long cable crosses over the
transmission seems an odd arrangement should the speedo be on the
right with a tidier cable staying on that side of the bike?
Next the brake light switch seems to be the Lucas pull it with a
spring, square blade type used on Triumph chain guards for years.
Again it seems an awkward arrangement any one got any pictures of the
stock set up?
The dipper switch on the left handle bar has it's Bakelite thumb lever
broke it is the screw on type dipper switch instead of the clamp on
type any one making the bakelite levers? Or a new switch?
The kill button for the mag on the right handle bar appears non
stock little bright red thing. Again what is the stock piece and is it
being re-produced? Via the clubs or anyone like Emco?
The foot rubbers are long gone. Anything special about these? Are they
available? any brands not to buy or are the choices limited?
This bike came with a single carb set up Amal mono block we note that
the adapter is shaved to very thin at the bottom as to make up for an
angle used in another application. We have been told that they were
all duel Amal mono chopped block pairs as original fitments. The Amal used now is a 389/203 is this one of the old pair?
anyway enough questions for a newby to these machines for now thanks
for your answers in advance.Edited by - norbsa48503 on 20 Feb 2008 4:33:06 PM

Hybrid is a made up afternarket word to reflect the Norton engine in Matchless frame, but a genuine rare Matchless nontheless and a powerful machine at that.

Speedo was fitted on the left, tacho on the right. Tacho has short cable from timing case therefore better for tacho on right, longer speedo cable is able to absorb the run to the left better.

Dipper switch should be combined dipper/horn and screwed to the bars. They are available from most classic cycle shops in USA/Canada. Don't think thumb levers available seperately.

Kill switch should be a chrome housing with plastic push button. These are now being sold by Tri Cor in England at £20 plus tax. email me (through forum) with your email address & I'll send a pic as I can't seem to do it through this forum.

Sorry, can't answer the other questions. Try Mike Partridge through the Canadian AJS/M OC or at Walridge Motors Ontario.

Best wishes

Yes I just found 31563A in Mike's catalog. It can be had with a rubber base did the G-15's use this? It's not fitted now. I guess this would be for grounding or non-grounding wiring for the horn. Yes the taco cable taking a priority makes sense thank you.
