Well I got the metalware back from the painter...pretty nice...a shade darker than I hoped for but we'll need to see it in the outside light to make a final call.

Should be fired up by the end of month

Cheers
Gerard

Is your G15 meant to be a CS or a CSR, as the gas tank on the CSR models held 3 3/4 gallons? The G15CSR gas tanks were chromed with a painted top. See Classic Bike September 1982 page 38 for a colour picture of a perfect restoration of a G15CSR. I used to use my own front room to fix all my bikes, as i had my N15CS, G15CSR, and my P11A Ranger 750 all in the front room. Up stairs i had another 3 P11's, and my AJS 33CSR, as well as a Norton factory prototype twin. This all stopped when i moved house, as my new lady would not allow any bikes in the house.Well she had moved in by then. They are now all out side so i have to restore, and fix them out on the lawn. Too many bikes, not a big enough work shop or years too live. My ex wife cited actually my P11A Ranger 750 in her divorce partion.

John this is the tank that came with the bike, no doubt the original was tossed or lost decades before....I cannot find the larger (correct) chrome-sided one here in the States for love or money but I keep looking

So the choice was keep going with this one for now and hope to stumble across the right one...or put Ape-Hanger handlebars on the bike, chrome-up the sides of the scrambles tank, and pretend it was/is one of those horrid 50 or so near-final versions they did as "chopper-esque" G15CSR's....no doubt the precursor to and the same dark inspiration for the Commando Hi-Rider was cutting its teeth on G15's

By the way I love the idea of a motorcycle being identified as a corespondent in a divorce proceeding....I can imagine the dialogue...."Your Honor, if he fiddled with me as often as he did the motorcycle...."...and the rejoinder..."your Honor the motorcycle has proven to be head-and-shoulders a better ride than my estranged spouse could ever hope to be"

LOL....and the motorcycle at least had the decency to render a markedly improved experience when fiddled with properly
