Wrong way round John, the swinging arm is narrower hence the slimmer spacers.

This interested me so I went and checked my '65 CS. It does indeed have the forked lower shock mount.

To summarise, swinging arm 028059 was introduced in 1962 for the 1963 season. It was fitted on the G80CS / 500CS for model years 1963-67 and on the G12CSR / 650CSR for model year 1963 only. The rear forked lugs are made of cast steel. As Rob points out, the swinging arm is narrower at the ends than before, which necessitated different wheel spacers. The S/A uses the same bushes at the pivot point as before.

The swinging arm I was looking for to complete my rebuild has been found.
