Because VIc Eastwood said so in an interview in the late seventies.The factory had been running six hundreds in the works scramblers for
several years

Absolute piffle......

In unlimited events Dave Curtis used a 600cc works bike....for all world championship meetings the bikes were not allowed over 500cc....hence Dave Bickers disappointment after riding Cutises bike when it was due to go to the Swiss GP it was returned to 500cc

So to say that all works bikes were 600cc is incorrect.....however some events allowed for an unlimited class up to 1000cc.....The world championships were always limited to 500cc

So what your implying is that the AMC Racing team cheated at all major racing events ....Or after forty odd years you might have forgotten quite what was said ?
