Hi I have found an AJS 1929 500 rear frame section with number 72117, is this the full frame number ?. Regards

Exactly where is this frame number stamped? The frame number is usually found on the right hand side just below the saddle, on a flat area, at the end of the tube running under the petrol tank.

Frame is on E/Bay France, there is only the rear rigid section, number seems to be at gearbox area

Rear frame unlikely to have a frame number, its more likely to casting number.

Having now looked at it on ebay it is certainly a casting number as it is raised. for this to be a frame number each frame would have to have the item individually cast with a different number set in the mould. Frame numbers are generally stamped into a frame and on the front portion not the rear.

1929? AJS ? Norton, whatever ????? I think the attached pic replies NO to 1929 AJS.
Also, the number is a casting number.
