August - when Albert ran out of petrol .

Post by 196016 »

August 2006 , an eventful month.
Albert ran out of petrol.
Albert nearly killed himself in Yorkshire .
Andy won the Jampot trophy.

The standard stuff - runs etc.
August 6th - run to the Mid Suffolk Light Railway at Brockford - nice run in the mid-Suffolk countryside ,only problem being Suffolk County Council who will insist on surface dressing at this time of year , lots of loose chippings.
Ride on a train.Parked surrounded by Rolls Royce cars.Nice to see the Norfolk Section.
Back to the Red Lion at Gt Bricett for our meal.
Saturday 12th - it rained rather a lot so we didn't go to Stowupland.
Monday 14th - usual bar-b-que at Grundisburgh.
Monday 21st -Evening run- Ended at the Victoria at Earl Soham , nice beer, strange locals. Good run but guess who ran out of petrol - our illustrious chairman.
Fortunatly , Mick Dykes had a full tank and with a borrowed empty wine bottle as a transfer vessel , Albert was on his way.

25th to 29th August - Jampot rally in East Yorshire.
Two vehicles , Two trailers , five bikes & five people left Grundisburgh at 10.30am.
Good run up except for Boston.
Found the site and set up camp near to the toilets, for Richards benefit.
Well done East Yorks , good site , good food, good beer, good runs, if a bit long for us southern softies.
one suprise, out of six bikes , four had rosettes. At the final judging , Andy won the Jampot trophy with Richard placed second although he did not receive a trophy.
On the Sunday run,Albert somehow managed to just get under the railway crossing barriers before they came down.Yes, he was that masked man!
So did we learn anything for our Jampot next year.
I'm not sure , a lot of the things we thought we knew seem to have changed. We will have to ask more questions.
