Sunday 28th April Run

Post by Grawding »

Just a quick reminder of our run to the International Bomber Command Centre on Sunday, Brian has circulated details to the section members by email, we are meeting at the Humber Bridge visitors car park to run to Lincoln via the lovely Lincolnshires Wolds minor roads and lanes very silmilar to our own EY Wolds, no visa's or passports required and bridge is free too for motorcycles what's not to like.

Our visit to the International Bomber Command Centre near Lincoln was a great day out. The IBCC staff and volunteers were very accommodating and give our party of seventeen riders and one pillion a guided tour of the gardens and monument. There's a nice reasonably priced cafe/restaurant with plenty of seating and an excellent menu, the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding look particularly good.

I would recommend members to visit.

As for the Lincolnshire lanes the new scenery to our seasoned East Yorks lads and lasses was greatly received, Wolds but not as we know them. Managed to avoid all the main A roads using the incredibly quiet B roads, lanes and tracks, A ford crossing, numerous bumpy 'level' crossings and negotiations with the foreman scaffolder to traverse a closed river crossing the Witham to avoid a 20 mile detour.

All capped off with tea, coffee and Cake back at Steve And Eileen's.

Thanks to our late Nick Campbell who sorted our contact for the visit with IBCC, so a friendly raid into Lincolnshire could be planned, route sorted and I could be navigator and Steve and Eileen our rear gunners. Missing pilot but not forgotten.
