September 7th 2008 - Family Picnic

Post by Duncan »

Notes for the Hampshire Section Manor Farm Country Park Family picnic on the 7th September:

The park entrance is situated in Pylands Lane, Bursledon, approximately ½ mile from junction 8 of the M27, midway between Portsmouth and Southampton. Follow the brown and white wagon signs. The farm itself is a five minute drive from the park entrance through the country park. NB There are speed humps along the route.

Assuming we are not rained off the advanced party (Ray and Sue) will be setting off early (10.00 ish) to bag a pitch and get set up. They will aim to get as close to the kiosk as possible so turn in right by the sign and wander along until you see a flying pig (don’t ask).

The site has some picnic tables (some with raised metal plates for portable BBQ’s so if anyone fancies bringing one it should be OK) but it would be better if individuals brought a chair to guarantee as seat as the grass may still be damp.

Entrance to the park is £2 per vehicle but this is deductible from the entry to the farm if you want to go and see the furry animals (not sure if there are any sheep though Dave).

If anyone has a bat and ball that might come in useful (Rose could you bring the one you took to the Jampot to beat Dave with?). Ray can hardly wait to get his boules set out and organise a knockout competition if anyone is up for it.

Remember to turn up from 11.00 am and that everyone needs to bring along their own picnic. The kiosk sells drinks and ice creams.
