modern AJS

Post by alanengineer »

The son of my freind has just brought a modern chinese cruiser type bike.
It has a rubber hose that come out of the engine between the cams and goes to some magic box.
Within a few miles, the hot gasses blow this pipe to shreads.
The bike has only done 1000 miles and without this pipe the bike runs badly or not at all.
Any suggestions on why and any cures. And the dealer doesnt seem very helpful, but its easy to shout down an 18 year old boy.
Thanks

Renew the pipe.
Probably very poor quality pipe used.
Had inner tubes fall apart

It could be the engine breather pipe. It ends up in the air intake/filter 'magic' box. Give ajs a call. They stock all parts for ajs/regal raptor bikes and also give good info and help.

Thanks for all your replies. Yes G80csp11 it look just like the youtube, thanks for the link.

I will go back to this lad and give him the good news! Its a shame his dad isnt more helpful.Poor kid, buys a bike and when it goes wrong soon after has his dad shouting at him for incompetence.
The kid is short of a few brain cells, but that is a symptom of over protective parenting.

Sounds like you could be just the "old guy down the road that likes bikes" that this young biker needs to keep him safely on two wheels Alan.

Yes indeed, and if the lad is encouraged enough to get enthusiastic about maintenance on his bike, he may then get interested in other types, such as old Brit ones.
