Wey Valley notes

Post by Mallet »

Here in the Wey Valley, all is a flurry of activity, several riders attended the International Jampot,& we all know how lucky we were with the weather. Glorious Leader won a rosette for his bike while attending the Church Crookham Fete run, & now he's flaunting it at clubnights. Vanman has a new camper,& has actually used it, Glorious Leader & Miss Piggy christened their new caravan at the International with Miss Piggy doing a fine job handing out tea & tiffin.

Several riders made it to the Fleet Carnival run, organised by our very own intrepid duo, Auntie Wainwright & Lionheart, the rain stopped when we set off,& only started again as we were leaving for home, lucky again. Knightrider came roaring into the carpark on Easy Riders Saturday meet, & was a little perturbed to discover a couple of broken spokes on his rear wheel.

With the Jampot almost upon us, we look forward to seeing you all up there, Matchless Maniacs & Ajay Wildthings, safe riding.

Stop Press! Mallet has been seen on his AJS, & it's definitely not a spurious rumour.

Wey Valley notes

Here in the Wey Valley, like everyone else we suppose, we try to make the best of the rotten summer, but at least the weather was dry for Hampshire camping weekend, as several Wey Valley riders attended, some even camping! It was a bit of a novelty for us, as the event was held at our meeting place, The Four Horseshoes. Good weather, good company & good food were the order of the day & we all enjoyed a good weekends camping & riding, well done to The Destroyer for guiding us up to the Devils Punchbowl NT park for tea & tiffin, Mallet even rode his AJS 18S(yes it really was his AJS 18S!), much to Glorious Leaders surprise. Monty Python had a little trouble with his pre-war AJS, he made it to the start, but couldn't get it to fire up afterward & had to call for recovery. Luckily upon inspection at home, it turned out to be a blocked jet in the carb.

That's all for now,see you out there,Matchless Maniacs & Ajay Wildthings.

Here in the Wey Valley, despite the miserable weather, all is a flurry of activity, with Glorious Leader & Destroyer rampaging around the continent, & Easy Rider's Saturday meets continuing to well be supported. Just not by Easy Rider, he's becoming a bit like the Scarlet Pimpernel, elusive, tehe!
Several Wey Valley riders attended the recent Hampshire sausage & mash social night, where Mallet & Meerkat spent a good part of the evening hacking at the large Yorkshire pudding base that the meals were served in, tasty but hard work!
Glorious Leader & Destroyer & others attended the Alternative rally & joined in with the Hampshires for fun & mischief, & Mallet,Glorious Leader & Ken the Younger(who will now be known as Youngman!) made it to the Southern Counties meet & joined with 3 of the Hampshires for tea & tiffin, all made it ok without mishap.
6 Wey Valley riders joined the Hampshires on their recent Frostbite run, & boy oh boy, frostbite was the word! Mallet rode from his Beloved one's place to the West Meon, & was sure glad of his long-johns & quilted ex-surplus waistcoat, ideal for keeping the nether regions warm, ahem!
Glorious Leader broke down on the way to the start point, & had to return home to get his van to return & collect the errant machine whilst Youngman! stood guard, & not to be deterred, simply rolled out another bike from his impressive collection & rode off with Youngman! straight to the lunch stop near Horsham, where 12 other riders had made it for lunch.
Vanman(who will now be known as Camperman)& Catapult arrived in relative luxury in their new Lomax 3-wheeler, which on account of it's side mounted exhausts, sounds every bit like a twin growling down the road.
See you out there, Matchless Maniacs & Ajay Wildthings!

Here in the Wey Valley, i'd better write something or i'll get lynched, lol! But to be fair, for those of you who have a PC, i post our notes online as well, in our own Forum post. Our christmas dinner on the 7th Dec was success, our Landlord did us proud with a carvery including turkey, beef, pork & lamb with usual veg & stuffing at hand, enjoyed by 20+ members including partners.
Mallet rode over to Easy Riders Saturday meet to find no one else there, but Glorious Leader speculated it might have been because of Kempton Autojumble being the same day.
Lionheart & Auntie Wainwright's workshop party went off well on a dry & mild day, with approx 40 riders & owners attending at some point through the morning, to enjoy coffee, camraderie & mince pies.
We hope you all had a good christmas & we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year, safe riding, & we'll see you out there, Matchless Maniacs & Ajay Wildthings!

Wey Valley notes

Here in the Wey Valley, not much has happened during the prolonged & cold late winter, apart from the occasional foray by hardy solo riders & MoT runs, although a dozen brave souls rode out for Ivan's memorial run, on Good Friday, which included a lunch stop at a new venue, the Golden Pot PH, where all enjoyed a hearty & warming lunch.

Several riders turned out for Glorious Leaders Easter Monday ramble, with lunch at the Four Horseshoes whilst warming up frozen hands & feet near a lovely roaring log fire.

5 Wey Valley riders attended the Westward Ho! run, ably led by Glorious Leader, with Youngman! taking part for the 1st time, & Camperman & Catapult took part in their Lomax 3-Wheeler. Mallet was there to wave them off, as he has done for some years now.

There was one incident worth noting, Youngman! suffered a broken throttle cable halfway there, & Do-Nut pulled over to assist. There was some confusion though, as in the dark, Youngman didn't realise it was indeed Do-Nut! Took about 10 mins for the penny to drop, causing much mirth!

It's getting warmer, so lets see you out there, Matchless Maniacs & Ajay Wildthings!

Here in the Wey Valley, Several Wey Valley riders made it to clubnight on bikes, for maybe the 1st time this season, including the Vigorous Rider & Knightrider on their respective steeds. McRubble also surfaced for perhaps the 1st time in some years, he brought along a friend of his who is recovering from an argument with a hedge.
4 Wey Valley riders attended the recent Amberley show,& enjoyed tea & tiffin all day
First May Bank Holiday saw the Annual Fleet Lions Run attended by several Wey Valley riders & friends, Good to see Seatpad & Meat Cleaver for perhaps the 1st time this year, although Meat Cleaver did explain his absence has been due to family pressures & Mallet is off the road temporarily, his bikes broke. Apparently when he tried to change the oil, the drain plug came out, but won't go back in, due to it having brought a helicoil with it! But the Glorious Leader did say "Jolly well fix the other bike!!"
With any luck this may give Mallet the enthusiasm he needs to visit the shed more often.
Glorious Leader, Miss Piggy & Destroyer are off on a continental rampage with some of the Hampshires, apparently to attend the International,I dare say they'll behave & not annoy the locals, maybe with a beer or three?

Wey Valley notes

Here in the Wey Valley, now let me see??? Wey Valley Riders have been to the Fleet Lions run, the Fleet Carnival run, the Owen Tyler run, the Two Johns Memorial run, the Lost Before the War run near Bury St Edmunds, & in blazing temperatures, rode in for lunch on Easy Riders Saturday meet at our meeting place, the Four Horseshoes PH, & joined the Hampshires for their annual Barmaids Fancy meet where Destroyer won the Barmaids Fancy award. We've yet to find out how much he paid the Barmaid to choose his bike??? Ooops!!! did I say that? tehe!

Credits are due to Auntie Wainright & Lionheart for sorting the Carnival run & Kentish Man for leading the Two Johns Memorial run, although he took ill & had to return home. We all hope he recovers soon, if not already. Look forward to seeing you all at the Jampot & maybe before at the White Dove Rally & then Popham Megameet.

Despite the feeling, in these current high temperatures, of riding around wearing mobile ovens, No string vests, No shorts, No flipflops on the Bike!!! Be safe, be alert, & lets see you out there, Matchless Maniacs & Ajay Wildthings!

P.s. Apparently some riders went to the Northants Club Old Tyme run near Fleet, but nobodys owned up to it yet, mmm :?:
