Still reckon you are looking at the copper tube that carries the alternator wires!!! I have my gearbox out at the moment and all the chain case bits are on the kitchen floor and there is only one breather as Colin has mentioned above (just a hole or a bolt with a hole) at the back of the crankcase which would spray any oil mist onto the rear chain as it goes round the gearbox sprocket. This you can't see unless you take the primary case off.

Curiosity got the better of me today so stripped the top end off, found the reason for oily plug and slight breather puff was the circlip not in and rubbing a 5 thou groove in the bore, the previous owner has so far done so much wrong its unreal, so need a plus 60 piston and rebore, also today the clutch lever was getting slacker by the mile, honesty what next!

Can you get as 60 thou o/s piston for these bikes?? May be better to look out for another barrel??

Ordered my new piston today, will be boring the barrel this week with a bit of luck it'll all turn up before the Christmas break

Superb spares service from amoc, ordered piston and few other odds and sods about 1.30 pm, arrived at work 10am next day! Woohoo! Will be boring my barrel Friday morning , fingers crossed nowt else needs attention for a while.

i have bored the barrel, luck would have it that i had a face plate that had the right size hole in, i have done a few before , its not something i do as a job, but have all the machinery at work ( i'm a toolmaker) so tend to do as much as i can myself
